Pakistan, Sept. 30 -- Pakistani human rights lawyer and activist Jalila Haider has received the Right Livelihood Award for her work supporting marginalised communities.

The Sweden-based Right Livelihood Award Foundation recognised Haider for challenging ethnic, state and patriarchal persecution. She is the first female lawyer from Pakistan's Hazara community.

The foundation highlighted Haider's seven-day hunger strike in 2018 against targeted killings of Hazaras. The protest led to talks between the army chief and Hazara women, according to the foundation.
