Pakistan, Sept. 20 -- Italy's school policy could soon change as Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni plans new rules on face coverings and foreign students. Her government will propose a legal limit on foreign students in each class and ban burqas and niqabs in schools. Meloni announced the measures during a youth event held by her Brothers of Italy party on Sunday.
The proposed rules will also require some parents of foreign students to learn Italian. The requirement will target parents whose children face serious difficulties integrating into the school system. Meloni said schools need stronger language support when students struggle to communicate in Italian.
