Pakistan, Aug. 8 -- Italy said it will maintain border controls on travelers from Spain until security concerns are resolved. The restrictions will remain in place until at least August 15.

The Italian government said it would not accept pressure from Spain to remove the controls. Rome said it would review the decision only after security risks are ruled out.

Spain had threatened reciprocal measures against Italian travelers unless Rome lifted the restrictions by Sunday. The dispute followed increased migration activity involving Spain's Ceuta enclave.
