Pakistan, July 30 -- The Islamic State-Khorasan (IS-K) group has claimed responsibility for the killing of a senior Taliban official in Afghanistan's northeastern Badakhshan province, marking one of the latest high-profile attacks targeting Taliban authorities.

According to the SITE Intelligence Group, which monitors extremist organisations, IS-K said its fighters shot dead Zabihullah Amiri, head of the Taliban's Information and Culture Department in Badakhshan, while he was travelling to the provincial capital, Faizabad, on Tuesday.
