Pakistan, Sept. 7 -- A high-level government committee has presented Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif with a proposed governance model for Islamabad that envisages a 27-member elected assembly, an elected chief executive and greater administrative and financial autonomy for the federal capital, according to government sources.

The draft represents a potentially far-reaching restructuring of the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT), proposing a governance system with several features resembling a provincial administrative setup.
