Pakistan, May 12 -- Iraq has launched a large-scale security operation named "Imposing Sovereignty" in its western desert following reports of foreign military activity. The operation aims to secure key desert regions and strengthen control over strategic routes. Authorities linked the move to recent claims of unidentified military presence in remote areas.

The joint operation involves the Iraqi Army and the Popular Mobilization Forces Popular Mobilization Forces. It is being conducted across desert areas in Najaf and Karbala provinces with multiple operational axes. Security forces are carrying out sweeps covering up to 120 kilometers with support from intelligence and explosives disposal units.
