Pakistan, Aug. 19 -- Iran's armed forces on Wednesday warned Gulf countries against assisting the US military amid rising regional tensions and fears of wider conflict.

Iran said any Gulf country providing assistance, facilities, or logistical support to American forces could become involved in US military operations. The warning came from Iranian Armed Forces Chief of Staff Ali Abdollahi, according to Iran's Mehr news .

"We wish to warn that any assistance or facilitation provided to the aggressor US military amounts to participation," Abdollahi said. His remarks did not identify specific Gulf countries or clarify what actions Iran might consider assistance or facilitation by regional governments.
