Pakistan, June 5 -- Iran has reaffirmed support for Hezbollah and demanded an Israeli withdrawal from southern Lebanon. The stance complicates efforts to secure a broader peace agreement between Tehran and Washington. Regional governments, global energy markets, and conflict-affected civilians could be impacted by the latest developments.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi said any end to the conflict must include Lebanon. He told Lebanese broadcaster Al Mayadeen that the war would end only when fighting in Lebanon stopped. Araqchi also insisted that Israeli forces must withdraw from territories occupied in southern Lebanon as part of any settlement.
