Pakistan, Aug. 31 -- Iran has launched ballistic missile attacks against US military targets in Jordan. Tehran said the strikes came in retaliation for recent American attacks on Larak Island. Iran's Revolutionary Guards claimed two US bases suffered heavy damage. However, Jordan's military said it intercepted eight missiles during the attack. The fresh exchange marks a major escalation in the six-month Iran war.

Iran also claimed it targeted the Al Minhad Air Base in the United Arab Emirates. The UAE strongly denied reports that the base came under missile attack.
