Pakistan, Aug. 5 -- Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has reaffirmed Tehran's support for the Palestinian cause and backed decisions made by Palestinian factions during negotiations. The statement came during a phone call with Hamas political chief Khalil al-Hayya.

Pezeshkian congratulated al-Hayya on his appointment as head of Hamas' political bureau, according to the Iranian presidency. He expressed hope that al-Hayya would continue serving the Palestinian people.
