Pakistan, July 28 -- Iran on Tuesday publicly executed two men convicted over the killing of security personnel during the nationwide protests that erupted in January, according to the country's judiciary, drawing renewed criticism from United Nations human rights experts.

The executions were linked to the Alikhani Square case in the central city of Isfahan, where Iranian authorities said four members of the security forces were killed during unrest. State-affiliated judiciary outlet Mizan Online identified the two men as Abolfazl Sepahi Badjani and Amirhossein Safari Hosseinabadi.
