Pakistan, Aug. 8 -- Iran and Oman have agreed on a framework of understanding concerning the Strait of Hormuz, an Iranian official said. The agreement marks progress in discussions over the strategic waterway.

Hassan Ghashghavi, spokesman for Iran's parliament National Security Commission, confirmed the development. He said the broad framework had been agreed upon between the two countries.
