Pakistan, Aug. 5 -- Iran said any future shipping agreement with Oman would not immediately reopen the Strait of Hormuz. The statement matters because the waterway remains vital for global energy shipments and international trade.

According to Iranian state media, negotiations on future navigation arrangements are continuing between Tehran and Muscat. Officials said the discussions are separate from any involvement by the United States.
