Pakistan, Aug. 8 -- Floods in India's northeastern Assam state have killed nearly 100 people, according to officials. The disaster has affected thousands as villages remain submerged under floodwaters.

At least 97 people have died, while nearly 170,000 residents have been affected by the flooding. Thousands of people have moved to temporary shelters after rivers overflowed.

Floodwaters have submerged more than 14,000 hectares of farmland across affected areas. Several villages have reported damaged homes, uprooted trees and vehicles buried under mud.
