Pakistan, Aug. 4 -- Pakistan's Energy Minister Awais Leghari said the International Monetary Fund has not approved a proposal for cheaper electricity during specific hours. He added that discussions with the IMF have continued for several months. Meanwhile, the government remains hopeful of securing approval for the plan.

Speaking at the Battery Storage Flexibility 2026 Conference in Islamabad, Leghari said off-peak electricity pricing could increase power consumption across the country. He noted that similar pricing models have helped boost electricity sales in other countries. Furthermore, he said Pakistan would continue presenting its case to the IMF.
