Pakistan, July 2 -- ISLAMABAD - A shocking revelation has emerged as audit officials disclosed that the Chairman and members of the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) received Rs560 million in illegal allowances over the years.
During a meeting of the Public Accounts Committee's (PAC) sub-committee, chaired by Convener Malik Amir Dogar, audit authorities presented detailed findings. The session specifically reviewed financial irregularities related to PTA.
Officials revealed that from 2008 onwards, PTA leadership received excessive allowances, including Rs113 million in 2021 alone, which violated government rules. They stressed that officers in MP-1 and MP-2 grades are not legally entitled to separate allowances.
