Pakistan, Aug. 18 -- The Strait of Hormuz will remain closed until the United States meets Iran's conditions, Tehran's top negotiator said Tuesday. Mohammad Baqer Ghalibaf said the demands include lifting the marine blockade and sanctions. The conditions also require the release of Iran's frozen assets.

According to state media, Ghalibaf said Iran would maintain the closure until Washington fulfills the interim deal's requirements. He identified the removal of restrictions on maritime access as a key condition. He also demanded sanctions relief and access to frozen Iranian funds.
