Heavy rain floods Lahore, disrupts trafficPublished on: July 7, 2026 7:15 PM
Pakistan, July 7 -- Heavy rain lashed Lahore on Tuesday, flooding low-lying areas and major roads while disrupting traffic across the city. Authorities deployed additional personnel to manage congestion and speed up drainage operations. The downpour brought relief from intense heat but exposed persistent urban drainage challenges.
Rainwater accumulated on several key roads, including those around Mayo Hospital, Mall Road, Lakshmi Chowk, Circular Road and Lahore Zoo. Professor Ashfaq Ali Road near the Lahore Metropolitan Corporation office was among the worst-affected locations. Standing water slowed traffic and caused significant inconvenience for commuters throughout the city.
