Authorities warned the figures remain preliminary and could increase as more data becomes available. Older adults, healthcare systems, and vulnerable communities were the hardest hit by the extreme temperatures.

The heatwave lasted from June 20 to June 28 and brought record-breaking temperatures across much of Europe. Experts described it as one of the continent's most severe heatwaves on record. The extreme conditions disrupted power generation, damaged infrastructure, and placed heavy pressure on healthcare services. Scientists said climate change almost certainly intensified the deadly weather event.
