Pakistan, Aug. 8 -- Hamas has reaffirmed its readiness to implement the US-backed Gaza peace plan, while Israel disputes the latest proposed terms. The disagreement threatens progress toward the plan's second phase.

A Hamas official said the group and other factions informed mediators of their readiness. However, implementation would require Israeli approval and corresponding steps from Israel.

Hamas also urged the US administration to pressure Israel to honour the agreement. The group said this would allow negotiations to proceed toward the second phase.
