Pakistan, Aug. 17 -- Hamas has welcomed US President Donald Trump's call for Israel to halt attacks on Gaza. The group also praised his efforts to maintain the ceasefire.

Hamas leader Khalil Al-Hayya met Trump envoy Jared Kushner in Cairo on Sunday. The meeting followed discussions aimed at advancing efforts to end the Gaza war.

The Cairo meeting marked Al-Hayya's second known meeting with Kushner. They previously held talks in October 2025 alongside US envoy Steve Witkoff.
