Pakistan, Aug. 27 -- The government has signalled plans to reconsider Pakistan's existing gas pricing system for consumers. Petroleum Minister Ali Pervaiz Malik said the current slab-based structure needs to change. He also backed a single gas price while protecting vulnerable consumers through targeted support.

The minister discussed the proposal during a meeting with Sui Southern Gas Company officials. He said the present subsidy system through different pricing slabs requires review. Malik stressed that reforms should create a fairer and more sustainable pricing structure.
