Pakistan, July 14 -- The federal government has decided to transform the Frontier Constabulary (FC) into a nationwide federal force, sources revealed on Sunday.
According to insiders, the move includes renaming the force as the Federal Constabulary and expanding its operational jurisdiction to all four provinces, Islamabad, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan.
To implement the decision, the government plans to issue an ordinance following the federal cabinet's approval of amendments to the Frontier Constabulary Act, 1915. These amendments will legally allow the force to operate beyond its current regional limits.
