Pakistan, Aug. 4 -- The federal government is preparing a plan to deregulate Pakistan's gas sector and restructure Sui companies. The reforms aim to create a competitive market and improve financial sustainability.
The Petroleum Division said the roadmap was reviewed by Petroleum Minister Ali Pervaiz Malik and World Bank Country Director Bolormaa Amgaabazar. The plan proposes separating transmission, distribution, and energy businesses of Sui companies.

The proposed reforms include unbundling Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited and Sui Southern Gas Company Limited. Moreover, the government plans to gradually introduce a single market-clearing gas price.
