Pakistan, Aug. 21 -- Govt declares August 26 a nationwide public holiday to mark Eid Milad un Nabi (PBUH), observed on 12th Rabi ul Awal. The Cabinet Division issued the notification on Friday following approval from Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. The holiday will apply across the country on Wednesday, August 26.
The decision follows the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee's announcement that the Rabi ul Awal moon was not sighted last week. The committee subsequently determined that 12th Rabi ul Awal would fall on August 26. Its meeting took place in Islamabad under the chairmanship of Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad.
