Pakistan, Aug. 8 -- Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Professor Ahsan Iqbal on Friday directed a nationwide scientific survey of loose (unpackaged) edible oil, ghee and milk after the National Price Monitoring Committee (NPMC) reviewed laboratory findings showing quality concerns in packaged food products, while noting that headline inflation eased by nearly two percentage points in July.

The minister issued these directives while chairing the NPMC meeting to review the country's inflation outlook, food quality standards and price trends of essential commodities, a news release said.
