Pakistan, Aug. 5 -- Gold prices surged sharply in both the local and international markets on Wednesday, pushing the price of the precious metal to record levels in Pakistan.

According to the latest market rates, the price of 24-karat gold per tola increased by Rs10,000, reaching Rs437,936.

Meanwhile, the price of 10 grams of gold rose by Rs8,573, taking it to Rs375,459.

The sharp increase followed a strong rally in the international market, where gold gained $100 per ounce to reach $4,155 per ounce.

The latest jump reflects continued strength in global gold prices, with international market movements directly influencing local bullion rates.
