Pakistan, Sept. 19 -- Germany will cut gasoline and diesel taxes by about 17 cents per litre from October. The government announced the move as fuel prices continue rising. The reduction aims to provide relief to motorists facing higher costs.
The package includes a 14-cent reduction in energy tax. Sales tax will also fall by another three cents. The combined changes are expected to lower fuel prices by about 17 cents per litre.
The decision follows Chancellor Friedrich Merz's promise to ease pressure on consumers. Federal and state governments held extended talks over financing the tax reductions. Rising fuel costs have become an increasingly important issue for the government.
