Pakistan, July 2 -- Four people died during large-scale celebrations in Mexico City after Mexico national football team defeated Ecuador to qualify for the FIFA World Cup round of 16, health authorities said.

According to the Mexico City Health Secretariat, two women aged 48 and 44 and a 19-year-old man were found unconscious near the Angel of Independence monument, where thousands of football fans had gathered following Tuesday night's victory. Officials said all three died from asphyxiation but did not provide further details about the circumstances.
