Pakistan, July 23 -- The death toll from flooding in India's northeastern Assam state has risen to 41 after 10 more deaths were reported. State authorities said more than 700,000 people have been affected, while three people remain missing.
According to the Assam State Disaster Management Authority, the latest fatalities were reported from five districts. Officials said rescue and relief operations are continuing across the flood-affected areas.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said the flooding had impacted regions that had not previously experienced such severe conditions. He said cloudbursts and heavy rainfall had caused widespread destruction across the state.
