Pakistan, June 8 -- The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has decided to launch a major crackdown on non-filers who display lavish lifestyles on social media without paying taxes in line with their apparent wealth, according to official sources.

The operation is expected to begin from July 1, 2026, with monitoring of social media activity continuing through September 30. During this period, FBR teams will analyze posts, images and videos to identify individuals showing signs of high spending and luxury lifestyles but failing to file income tax returns.
