Pakistan, Aug. 4 -- Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman has said creating new provinces is not an easy process. He questioned whether the country's current conditions could support such a major administrative change.

Speaking at a press conference in Quetta, Fazlur Rehman said establishing new provinces was not wrong in principle. However, he said the country's structure and circumstances must be considered before taking such decisions.

The JUI-F chief said statements about new provinces should not divert attention from national issues. He added that Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi could not make such remarks without consultation with the prime minister.
