Pakistan, May 9 -- A woman in Ethiopia has given birth to five babies at once after waiting 12 years to become a mother, in a rare medical event that has drawn widespread attention.

According to reports cited by the BBC, the 35-year-old woman from Ethiopia's Harari region welcomed quintuplets after more than a decade of hoping to have children.

The newborns include four boys and one girl. Medical officials said both the mother and all five babies are in stable condition and reported to be healthy following the delivery.
