ISLAMABAD, June 17 -- Electricity consumers across Pakistan may face another increase in power tariffs as the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) considers a request for a fuel cost adjustment submitted by the Central Power Purchasing (CPPA).

According to the proposal, the CPPA has sought an increase of Rs0.82 per unit in electricity prices for the month of May, which is expected to be reviewed by NEPRA on June 30. If approved, the adjustment would apply nationwide, including Karachi, and could add an estimated Rs12 billion burden on consumers.
