Pakistan, June 8 -- Protests broke out in several parts of Gilgit-Baltistan on Monday as supporters of independent candidates raised concerns over delays in the announcement of election results. Demonstrations were reported in Diamer and Astore while the counting process continued for all 24 general seats of the Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly. The unrest added pressure on election officials as political parties and candidates awaited the remaining results.
