Pakistan, Aug. 20 -- The Power Division (PD) on Wednesday set September 30, 2026 deadline for Distribution Companies (DISCOs) to upgrade 90% of all federal and provincial government electricity connections with Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) meters.

The development came during a meeting held under the chairmanship of Secretary, Power Division, Dr Fakhar -e-Alam Irfan, read a statement.

The meeting reviewed progress on the installation of AMI meters by DISCOs on all provincial and federal government-owned connections, it added. The meeting was informed that all DISCOs across the country have commenced replacement of existing meters on government premises, in compliance with the prime minister's directives.
