Pakistan, July 16 -- France head coach Didier Deschamps admitted his team was comprehensively outplayed after a 2-0 defeat to Spain in the FIFA World Cup semi-final, ending Les Bleus' hopes of reaching a third consecutive final.

Speaking after the match in Arlington, Texas, Deschamps acknowledged that Spain were superior in every department, saying France failed to match their opponents technically, tactically and physically.

"Spain are a very strong team, and they proved it tonight," Deschamps told reporters. "We were below our usual level, made too many technical mistakes and were not at our best physically."
