Pakistan, Sept. 1 -- Denmark has reopened its embassy in Syria's capital Damascus after nearly 14 years. The move marks a significant step toward restoring diplomatic ties between Denmark and Syria. Danish Foreign Minister Lars Lokke Rasmussen attended the reopening ceremony alongside Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shaibani.

Denmark also appointed its first permanent ambassador to Syria since 2012. The reopening reflects Copenhagen's intention to strengthen diplomatic engagement with Damascus. Officials from both countries attended the ceremony marking the return of Denmark's permanent diplomatic presence.
