Pakistan, Aug. 22 -- A Chinese humanoid robot has run 100 metres in 9.32 seconds, surpassing Usain Bolt's human world record. The performance came during a preparatory test in Beijing.

The robot, named Lightning, reached a peak speed of 14.5 metres per second. China's state broadcaster reported the performance ahead of the second World Humanoid Robot Games.

Lightning's time surpassed Bolt's 9.58-second world record, set at the 2009 World Athletics Championships in Berlin. Bolt remains the fastest human over the distance.
