Pakistan, July 27 -- China has accused the United States of pursuing "AI hegemonism" after Washington warned Chinese artificial intelligence firms could face investigations and restrictions. Beijing threatened countermeasures against actions it considers harmful to Chinese interests. The dispute highlights growing competition in the global AI industry.

China's Commerce Ministry said US officials were targeting Chinese companies with allegations of copying advanced AI models. According to Beijing, the claims lack factual and legal grounds. The ministry said China would defend its legitimate rights if further action was taken.
