Pakistan, Aug. 21 -- China has rejected US-led sanctions and economic pressure against Iran, saying such measures cannot resolve the Middle East conflict.
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian made the remarks during a news briefing on Friday. He urged all relevant parties to pursue political and diplomatic solutions.

Lin said sanctions and pressure would not help resolve the issue. He called on concerned countries to take responsible measures and avoid further escalation.
The comments followed Washington's call for governments, including China, to support efforts against Iran's economy. The United States has sought greater international pressure on Tehran.
