Pakistan, Aug. 14 -- Chinese Ambassador Jiang Zaidong met Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar in Islamabad on Friday, reaffirming the close and long-standing relationship between Pakistan and China.

During the meeting, Dar expressed condolences over the death of a Chinese mountaineer following an avalanche at Broad Peak in Gilgit-Baltistan.

Dar assured the Chinese ambassador that Pakistan would provide full assistance in repatriating the deceased's remains, while Jiang appreciated the country's prompt support.

Meanwhile, Jiang conveyed warm Independence Day greetings to Pakistan's people and leadership, describing the relationship between the two countries as close and time-tested.
