Pakistan, May 2 -- China's railway network recorded a new single-day passenger milestone during the May Day holiday. On May 1, the system transported 24.8 million passengers nationwide. The figure marks the highest daily total ever recorded in the country.

The data was released by the China State Railway Group. Officials said demand surged as millions traveled for the five-day Labour Day holiday. The strong passenger flow reflects a sharp rise in domestic tourism activity.
