Pakistan, Oct. 6 -- A British Airways flight from London to Chicago declared an emergency over Ireland on Monday. The aircraft later abandoned its journey and returned to London Heathrow Airport. Flight BA295 was flying from Heathrow to Chicago O'Hare when the incident occurred. The aircraft had travelled for about an hour before beginning a rapid descent.

Flight-tracking data showed the Boeing 777-200ER flying at around 37,000 feet. The aircraft then descended by about 28,000 feet within minutes. It eventually levelled off at approximately 9,000 feet. During the incident, the pilots also activated the international emergency code 7700.
