Pakistan, Aug. 4 -- Bangladesh has asked India to clarify its position on former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina planned virtual speech from New Delhi. Dhaka warned that allowing political activities by a fugitive could affect improving bilateral relations. However, officials stressed they want to maintain positive engagement with India.

The statement marked Bangladesh's first official response to Hasina's planned appearance at an August 5 event. The Foreign Correspondents' Club of South Asia will host the event in New Delhi. Hasina is expected to speak by video link alongside her son, Sajeeb Wazed Joy, and other participants.
