Pakistan, July 24 -- Bangladesh President Mohammed Shahabuddin resigned on Friday, citing serious health concerns. His departure comes months before former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's planned return to the country's political scene.

According to the president's office, Shahabuddin was diagnosed with autonomic neuropathy following recent medical examinations. In a statement, he said the condition causes occasional loss of consciousness, making it difficult to continue in office.
