Pakistan, Oct. 1 -- At least 15 Nepali workers were killed after an avalanche buried their mountain camp in central Nepal. The workers were preparing the camp for foreign climbers, according to a rescue official. One worker remains missing following the incident.

The avalanche struck the base camp of Himlung Himal over the weekend. The mountain stands 7,126 metres above sea level in northern Manang district. Workers were pitching tents and fixing ropes when the avalanche buried the camp.

Rescuers have recovered 15 bodies from the site so far. Eight bodies were recovered from beneath the snow on Thursday. Rescue teams had retrieved another seven bodies earlier in the week.
