Pakistan, Sept. 6 -- Pakistan's armed forces paid tribute to the country's martyrs on the 61st Defence and Martyrs' Day. The military leadership also expressed deep respect for the Ghazis and families of those who sacrificed their lives. They renewed their commitment to serving Pakistan and protecting its people with dedication.

Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Admiral Naveed Ashraf, Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Babar Sidhu and General Syed Aamer Raza honoured the Shuhada. They said September 6 remains a lasting symbol of national unity, courage and determination. The day recalls how Pakistanis stood together to defend the country during the 1965 war.
