Pakistan, Sept. 22 -- Anthropic on Tuesday launched Claude Opus 5.5, its latest artificial intelligence model, amid growing debate over AI safety. The company said the model delivers performance comparable to top-tier systems.

Anthropic said Opus 5.5 costs 40% less to operate than its predecessor. The company also said independent groups Frontier Design and METR tested the model before its release.

According to Anthropic, Opus 5.5 outperformed OpenAI's GPT-5.6 Sol on a software development benchmark. The company said the model costs roughly one-third as much to run. It is priced at $4 per million input tokens and $20 per million output tokens.
