Pakistan, Aug. 22 -- Afghanistan's Taliban government has imposed a complete ban on protests across the country. The decision follows approval of a new police law by Supreme Leader Hibatullah Akhundzada. Afghan media reported that the new law formally prohibits all forms of demonstrations. The Afghan Ministry of Justice issued the law on Saturday.
According to the new police law, authorities have banned demonstrations throughout Afghanistan. Article 50 specifically states that no form of protest will be permitted anywhere in the country. The measure gives security authorities a clear legal basis to prevent public demonstrations. However, the law also outlines duties and responsibilities for different police departments.
